Do you ever wonder how much abuse from clumsy fisherman a fish can take before succumbing to its injuries? I don't think any of us sets out with the intention of mortally wounding a fish we plan to catch and release. I have been using a Ketchum Release for several years now and man are they easy to use. I would recommend this device to anyone planning to practice catch and release. This tools has no moving parts to break and it works great if the fish is hooked in the lip, back of its throat or wherever. You can release your fish without ever touching it and without taking it out of the water.
I have found on the young of the year brookies (3-4 inches) that this tool doesn't work quite as well because of the size of the fish.
The Ketchum Release comes in several different sizes so be sure to buy the one that is right for you.
