:)Have had good luck on the Piney and upper White Oak Canyon Run this week. They are taking Mr. Rapidans, both parachutes and regular, and I've had teriffic luck with a parachute Griffith gnat, all in size 18. Caught about forty in the two trips. Stealth and perfect casts do the job; I've probably caught more with bow and arrow casts than any other method. Today the action stopped at 6:30 p.m. The fish seemed to tune out what I was offering them because a small hatch was on and they were leaping out of the water to get to a fly that I couldn't identify- it was about a size 16, light brown. It looked like a mayfly rather than a caddis. I watched one pool for about a half hour. There were about 6-8 brookies in the 7-9" range working on these flies. About every 30 seconds one would leap out of the water and catch a fly that hovered 3-12" above the surface. I've never seen this behaviour before. It was fascinating.
