I was in the Roanoke area on business and decided to take my fly rod along for some brookie action. I went for my "Virginia Blue Ribbon Trout Streams" book and couldn't find it; Harry was nice enough to respond to my email and recommended North Creek; Thanks Harry.
This is a very scenic stream and access is excellent. I fished the Special Regulations section just above the campground. I caught eight small to medium sized brook trout using a Light Cahill dry fly and a Hares Ear weighted nymph.
It was raining and overcast all day and temps in the mid 60's. Not sure if this had an effect on the fishing. This is a very nice creek and has alot of nice pools.
The section below the special regulations is posted as being stocked but I couldn't confirm from any of the Va trout stocking summaries if it is on the 2007 list of streams to be stocked. This is also nice water. I didn't get a chance to fish this section.
